Epizode Festival is about forgetting your every day life and getting lost in a jungle paradise, in green blue sea and in hidden coves, caves and beaches.
The third edition in December 2018 and January 2019 welcomed underground stars like Binh, Thomas Melchior, Craig Richards, Dubfire, DJ Stingray, Goldie, Nina Kraviz, [A:RPIA:R], Peggy Gou, Pan-Pot, Ricardo Villalobos and many more to the idyllic beaches of Phi Quoc in Vietnam.
Here we round up why you need it in your life.
Not only would Epizode’s lineup be world class over in Europe, but in Asia, it is almost unheard of to see so many special selectors in one location. Epizode are really driving the scene forward in that regard and also bringing on lots of local talents, so the future is bright.
Partying in the open air is always extra special. When the sun is rising out of the sea as a backdrop, it’s spine tingling stuff. Add in DJs like Nina, Ricardo and Apollonia bringing the music, and you have artists who know how to tailor their sounds, moods and textures to the perfect setting and it all adds up to something utterly unique.
Surprise Sets at the New Shell Stage
Just about every morning, there were special unannounced sets in the new Shell Stage. As such, before you’ve even woken up, you’ll find yourself dashing off to catch the vibes from names like Zip and Craig Richards, who went back to back with Seth Troxler in one particularly memorable occasion.
It’s super nice to party with people who are different from you. That is what dance music rose from, bring diverse characters together, and that is what Epizode is known for. Hardcore music lovers from all over the world - 79 different countries in fact - all joined in with a huge number of Asians. They were all really friendly and everyone was in great sprits and that helped to create something really magical, especially at sunrise on the Fresbie stage.
The Art and Production
An amazing location is one thing, but if no one can get fed, get drinks, or hear the music, you aint gunna have a good time. Luckily Epizode know that and plenty to time, money and reources are poured into making sure everything is spot on. Getting around is easy, the sound is crisp, and what makes it more standout is the amazing art dotted around the beaches, from huge, long legged structures to buddha masks and much more, it really is an adult playground.
The Island of Phu Quoc
This place is paradise, obviously. The local food is amazing and rich, the sea is a perfect green-blue, the white sand beaches are the stuff of dreams. The island is also small enough to drive round in the day so you can take excursions visiting the jungle in the national park to really make special memories.
Because Epizode is positioned on the beach it meant the music went on 24/7 and you could relax on or party with the sand in your feet. The sun set everyday right in front of you and the various different stages always offered slightly different vibes so you could always find one that fit.
