They call it caput mundi, the eternal city, where European civilisation started. Rome is of the most visited places in the world, and this December over 10,000 people will ring in the new year raving to techno in one of the city’s most iconic buildings of the past century.
Cosmo Festival will see some of the best DJs play in the EUR district, which was built in the 1930s and inspired by ancient Roman architecture. They will be spread across four rooms connected to each other, and the last headliners to have been confirmed include Ame, Chris Liebing, Loco Dice, and Nina Kraviz, who’ll be slamming from from New Year’s Eve to the morning of the 2nd.
After the success of its first edition, Cosmo Festival is going headstrong into its second edition. “Most people expect big things on New Year’s Eve… and we always like this challenge”, said the event’s promoter Gianluca Neon. “The city has a vibrant electronic music scene thanks to legendary events and clubs which made the capital a key-destination for many clubbers over the last three decades, starting with early 90’s raves.”
Headliner Loco Dice is particularly looking forward to getting back in front of the Italian crowd, having featured at the event last year. “Nowhere in the world do you have such passion, dedication, energy and identification with the artist. To me it seems like the fans take it very personally. It’s very special.” After a year as rough as 2016, what can the electronic music scene do to make the world a better place? Dicey’s philosophy is simple: “Dance for freedom like we do every year. Something we’ve done since day one.”
