Born on the beautiful island of Haiti, it wasn't until Michael Brun moved to the United States for medical school that he decided to pursue a career in electronic dance music DJing and production. In only a couple of years, he has received support from some of the biggest names in the industry including Hardwell, Kaskade, Dirty South, and Alesso. Last year alone, his 'Gravity' EP hit #2 on Beatport's overall charts and he produced remixes for Armin van Buuren, Alicia Keys & Maxwell, Tiesto, and Calvin Harris, among others.

We had a chance to catch up with Michael ahead of Miami Music Week and appearances at Ultra Music Festival and Coachella to chat about what led him to pursue music full-time, some gratifiying moments in his career so far, where we can catch him play this week in Miami, and what else he's been working on.  Be sure to download his podcast below!  Enjoy.

Tell us about the exclusive mix you made for Pulse. What was your approach? I wanted to make a mix that was representative of what I would play out in a live set right now, so it's made up of original releases and remixes, some personal edits, and a few of my favorite tracks from friends.

You have an interesting background being born in Haiti, coming to the US for school, and not necessarily pursing DJing and production as a career right away. What made you change your mind? It was always a passion of mine, but I always focused on school first. It wasn't until my sophomore year of Pre-Med that things got so time consuming and serious that I ended up taking a leave from school to be able to focus all my attention on the music.

What would you say has been the most gratifying moment so far in your career? There have been some truly amazing moments, but I think one of the biggest ones was seeing my 'Gravity' EP chart #2 on Beatport one day after its release. Also EDC Mexico and TomorrowWorld were two really great shows for me.

What do you have in store for Miami Music Week 2014? I'll be playing some great gigs during the week including All Gone Pete Tong and Ultra main stage on Sunday! I'm really looking forward to seeing peoples' reactions to the new music.

You shared with fans earlier this month that you’ve been working on a lot of music that you can’t wait to share. What can we look forward to seeing from you? Lots of new music, but I'm really excited about my collaboration with DubVision! We actually just wrapped that up just a few days ago. Keep an ear out during MMW for a preview!
