BIOGRAPHY
The Stranjjur imprint is the brainchild of NYC-based artist, Kev Obrien; who has been organizing events (alongside Billy Disciple) and DJing under the Stranjjur guise over the past few years; introducing some of house and techno's newest shining stars to the big apple. The label will be co-operated by Kev in unison with his collaborative partner Chris Luzz and longtime NYC-mainstay and Smoke City record label owner, Ab Logic.
Since 2009, up and coming international stalwarts such as Milton Jackson, MANIK, Carlo Lio, Alex Niggemann, Kruse & Nuernberg, Till von Sein and many others have all made their big debuts in New York under the Stranjjur NYC banner; the event series focused it's mission statement on introducing 'stranjjurs' (pronounced Strangers)' to the City that Never Sleeps.
Fast forward to 2011, and the next logical step for Kev and Stranjjur as a whole, is to use the same A&R principals and philosophy that have made the events a success, towards creating an even more exciting and meaningful platform aimed at helping up and coming artists get their message to the world. Hence, in summer 2011, the Stranjjur Imprint was born.
The label's debut release came out in September 2011, and was immediately met with worldwide acclaim from DJs, press and fans. Lula Circus' Miami Vices EP peaked at #2 overall on Decks.de Best Sellers chart, before the 12" vinyl sold out in a few short weeks. The record made big waves thanks to key support from artists such as Maya Jane Coles; who played Pezzner's remix of 'Pumpin Groovin Moovin' on her wildly popular Essential Mix. This, as well as additional radio support on BBC Radio, and editorial reviews in many of the industry's biggest mags; helped to put Stranjjur on the map, worldwide after only one release. A feat that many labels struggle to reach even after years of releasing music.
Moving forward to 2012; Stranjjur has releases and remixes scheduled from artists such as Kris Wadsworth, Marcin Czubala, Inxec, Tigerskin & Till Von Sein, Audio Soul Project, WiLDKATS, Lula Circus, Miguel Puente, Andreas Saag, Viadrina, Manhattan Project (Kev OBrien & Chris Luzz) and many more.
