You've got to admire a record label that calls themselves, Soulfooled - But there's nothing deceiving or darkly deceptive when it comes to Soulfooled output and musical passion. No tricks or mislead beats, just an strong and consistent release schedule over the last 6 months; built on a shared collection of exceptional musical passion. Soulfooled and its founders Alex Niggemann, Superlounge and Marc Poppcke are some of the foremost proponents of groove-laden house, already established as ambassadors of the labels distinct and uniquely blended sound. With releases including “Walk In Your Skin” by David Durango heavily strengthening their profile along with huge support for their backbeat of warm-swung loops that drift towards the sounds of early house and unwind with a tight combination of intricate tones, smooth drums and subtle synths.
As a worldwide house sound has become much smoother and warmer, Soulfooled launched earlier in 2010 with the double a-side of Audiofly’s “Backroom Buziness” and “Formula” by Dualton. Since then the Berlin based label have been signing tracks brimming with that independent soul that made many of us fall for house in the first place; releasing percussive prompted beats with a natural European charm. Touching on the pair's trademark experimentalism and tech house instrumentation, Audiofly’s label debut gem was remixed by Soulfooled’s Superlounge (Oliver Fritsche & Alex Bach) who not only stripped back to the originals sleek flavor to reveal a more organic sound but sculpted an impressively-executed taste of what was to come as Soulfooled’s 12” catalogue numbers clock up. As Label owner Alex Niggemann and "kindisch"-artists Findling & Lihab brought us the labels second release the classic simplicity of Soulfooled’s underground sound exercises Alex, Superlounge and persistent and passionate reference to a winning compound, that see’s techno edged touch peddled face first up against the strikingly natural dynamics of vocal hooks and stimulating synth undertones.
Soulfooled's new Collective EP on their Soulfooled Detailed imprint brings all hands on deck for a collection of singles heavily steeped in the imagery of the bright lights in the big city. The label's roster - Alex Niggemann, Superlounge and Marc Poppcke have developed a knack for thrilling dance music devotees with their own modern take on deep house, and on this well rounded collective EP, fans of the label will be greeted with a little bit of everything that we love about the Soulfooled sound, from peak-time dance-floor fillers to more mental, grooving jams.
