Retrofit is the boutique label series from UK producer Jay Shepheard launched in February 2010. With an ear for the past and and eye on the future the label marry classic electronic musical themes with current dancefloor sound and concepts. Weather it be disco, acid house, vintage techno or anything between expect the highest quality of diverse and melodic electronic music aiming to break free from conformity and establish its own sound in a scene often plagued by short term trends. "Retrofit: the addition of new technology, features or ideas to older systems."
The Retrofit project got off to a cracking start earlier this year, the first release achieving top positions on the vinyl and download charts of the major stores and receiving DJ support from such modern luminaries as The Revenge, Catz N Dogz, dOP and Brendon Moeller. Now Jay teams up with Matthew Burton and his partner Kate Rathod to deliver a fine slice of electronic deepness for the second installment. Matthew has been cutting his teeth in the scene lately with releases on Denmark's Connect Four and London's Leftroom while in future talks are afoot of a Burton release on the much coveted Wolf + Lamb. Again we have four tracks on the EP; stripped back, jacking and melodic grooves that will touch the soul of all true music heads out there.
