With Sonar and Miami Music Conference finding and solidifying their places in the world electronic music calendar Amsterdam Dance Event is the next in line for the same legendary status. Stretching over a tiring 5 days in what we all know to be one of the most hedonistic cities on the planet, Amsterdam Dance Event is fast becoming one of the most important events to anyone who is into pretty much any person who’s into any dance music sub-genre. You name it, This Conference has it all. If you’re a struggling DJ/small imprint owner, just starting out on your life in the world of electronica or if you’re a hardened, established label exec, this has everything you could possibly need. Whilst the industry battle and network it out in the day, the hardcore flood from around the world to witness some of the wildest parties known to man at night. And even though this is an international event it really shows the strength of the Dutch dance and electronic music community. Just under 25% are visitors with the rest of the attendees being local to Amsterdam and just a bit further within the Dutch Borders.
The core of the festival split into Playground (spread over 20 venues in central Amsterdam incorporating art events as well as huge, and small, raves) and Conference (focused around a smaller number of venues with the the main events being in the Felix Meritis and Dylan hotels) Amsterdam Dance Event is a great place to learn, discuss, network and be inspired. Then on top of that there is, similar to Sonar, all the subevents hosted all round Amsterdam.
Unlike sonar and Miami there is also a big focus on hard dance which as we know the dutch love and members of that scene flood en masse to the city around ADE time.
To try and list who plays there would be ridiculous but we’ve seen incredible parties from Mobilee, Minus, Secret Sundaze, Skreamizm and a particularly mind-blowing b2b set from Andrew Weatherall and Dj Harvey.
Love Dance music, Love ADE
