Electric minds and its founder Dolan Bergin have evolved from the unique underground nightlife experience of modern London. electric minds and their extravagant parties quickly gained notoriety, since its inception in 2005, due to the eclectic programming of guests such as Mark Seven, Loud E, Yam Who?, Mock n Toof, Fabrizio Mammarella, John Daly, Stevie Kotey to name just a few.
Since starting life from 2007 and under the same name, electric minds has become one of brightest & most cutting edge records labels in London. The label has gone on to release singles from Yam Who ?, Gatto Fritto, Stevie Kotey, Max Essa, Chaz Jankel, DFD, Free Disco, Faze Action, Toby Tobias, Mushrooms Project, Ilija Rudman, Mark E, Michael J Collins & Pocketknife. A special album recreating and covering a number of Arthur Russell’s classic disco tracks was released in 2009 on cd and limited edition vinyl. A second 12” from Innervisions’s Lil Tony & Yam Who? crossed over the many dance genres and saw it maintain a number one position at Juno for a number of weeks. DJ Mag & IDJ have listed electric minds as one of the pioneering labels currently championing the sounds of disco & house; both magazines featured the label in their August ’09 edition with IDJ providing a 4 page feature on electric minds in their December ’09 edition. DJ Magazine follow up with a full feature in their July 2010 edition.
All of the A&R, art direction and label management has been handled by Dolan and in less than 18 months electric minds has found fans worldwide. It has also received support from many DJs and producers namely The Revenge, Ame, Prins Thomas, Jacques Renault, DJ Harvey, Danny Krivit, Idjut Boys, Lindstrom and many more.
Dolan completed a tour of Japan and Australia in June 2009 to promote electric minds Volume 1 Cd series as well as summer festival dates in Croatia, Germany, Italy and The U.K. November ’09 saw a collaboration with the Lovebox Festival to launch the Arthur Russell Tribute album.
2010 trips outside of town include Croatia’s Garden Festival, an album launch in New York and other dates in Paris, Austria as well as a return to Australia & Japan. The London events started over the Easter weekend with a huge warehouse party that was jointly organised with secretsundaze with a follow up taking place over the May bank Holiday in the loft above the Rich Mix Cinema. In addition Resident Advisor sponsor the electric minds loft parties that take place over the summer / autumn with Tony Lionni, Move D, Mark E, Commix, Marcus Worgull Lil Tony, James Priestley & Giles Smith on guest duties.
