The man behind ZN is the Munich based producer and DJ Florian Senfter, also known as Splank. Florian started spinning records in the mid 90s at warehouse parties and at underground art exhibitions that he initiated with his back then crew. Those were the days when acid was considered food and strobe light substituted for sunlight. Around that time he also got into producing his own tracks and in spring of 1999 the first Zombie Nation 5 track E.P. was released on DJ Hell's Gigolo Records.
Since that time Zombie Nation is on the map, releasing hits like Souls At Zero, Money Talks, Booster and also the infamous K400. Florian´s rougher persona shows with his side project John Starlight, where he created songs like Blood Angels, Road Rage and Shadow Breaker (just remember the brilliant Boys Noize remix of that one…). And of course the successful studio collaboration with Tiga as ZZT that gave us the nerve wrecking "Lower State of Consciousness"(with a remix by Justice), or more recently "The Worm", that caused uncontrollable reactions on the dance floor. A brand new Zombie Nation Album called “Zombielicious” is out since March 09. This album sets another benchmark in the world of electronic music and received enthusiastic acclaims from both long-term fans and recent converts.
Also during the last months, Zombie Nation’s remix muscle has received a workout and you can now enjoy ZN remixes of The Presets, Adam Freeland and Kid Sister. Driven by the passion to "create as many perfect moments as possible", Florian has been playing shows from intimate clubs to huge festivals, making 'Zombie Nation live' its own trademark. For the past 2 years Florian is accompanied on tour by Buelent Kullukcu who is in charge for the Zombie Nation visuals. He is also filming every move of ZN with a camera for a long-term documentary. They haven’t set a deadline for this project yet, but the material so far is promising. The idea behind this doc film is to highlight the ups and downs of someone who jumps in and out of parties all around the world, meeting people and facing situations at strobe light speed.
Zombie Nation Sound – that means organic, funky and dirty grooves between electro and house, filled with bass-laden raw energy. Florian likes to update his musical production with every track. "Music is stored energy" as he points out. Just like a good cook would choose only organic ingredients, in the Zombie-Kitchen all production is based on selected hardware and analogue instruments.
