Hailing from the infamous streets of Baltimore, U.S.A, home to hit TV show THE WIRE, emcee Wordsmith has linked with Netherlands native lyricist I.N.C The Poet for this smashing global hip-hop collaborative project.
By perfectly describing their lives in their respective international ‘hoods through the descriptive medium of a fictional drink, Word and I.N.C tear through a concise eleven tracks of jeep-worthy, descriptively vivid material. Using the metaphor of this fictional drink, Word represents the Baltimore ingredient of the beverage, using it to mirror the rough life that most Baltimore City residents endure. Picture seeing a life where each block consists of drug dealers; police monitored cameras, or bums walking the streets. The rough taste that this part of the drink would provide reverberates throughout Word’s contribution to the project. Wordsmith describes living the fast life and losing it all, documenting the prevalence of the hustle to have nice cars and clothes, and how ultimately each hustler ends up in jail or dead. A Martini is usually described as being crisp and it has also garnered the name of a "Silver Bullet" for being clear, potent, and never missing its mark. As the second half of the album unfolds I.N.C The Poet seeks to show how much clearer and potent the quality of someone's life can be when they are willing to step up to a more gratifying situation. Through I.N.C The Poet's guidance and knowledge of living a pure life, Word doesn't relapse into his former situation; he instead continues his fight for a better lifestyle.
Together, Wordsmith and I.N.C the Poet have embarked on a colourful audible journey as they seek to tell a story of hardship, failure, rebirth, and fulfillment. The album scripts a cohesive story, gripping the listener until it’s final denoument.
