As a young DJ Carl moved to Brighton in the late nineties and emerged himself in the burgeoning breakbeat culture of the city, DJing and cutting his teeth as a producer. Working in Krafty Kuts record shop and learning crowd control as a teenage Supercharged resident, Carl began producing a series of remixes for the likes of Quantic (Tru Thoughts) and Pepe Deluxe. Working with talent such as Blak Twang, Carl recorded an LP as one half of Black Grass for Catskills Records. After some dabbling in odd jazz tinged noodles and subsequently lurching towards minimal techno, Carl grew up, moved to the big smoke and is in full flow with his latest incarnation: Warrior One.
Warrior One (a master yoga pose named after a fierce manifestation of the Lord Shiva!) has been fast gathering support from the record buying public and principal tastemakers alike. 2010 saw three EPs released including one for seminal NYC label Mixpak. At radio Annie Mac, Toddla T, Rob Da Bank, and Mista Jam are all fans, with rave reviews coming in from the likes of DJMag, IDJ, & NME.com. Very much in demand as a remixer, Warrior One delivered no less than sixteen in 2010, including mixes for Foals, Bonobo, Foamo, Husky Rescue, Spark, RackNRuin plus an official remix of Apache and one for Dreadzone(!)
With a punishing DJ schedule playing at everywhere from Fabric to the Sub Club, to Glastonbury, and flying about to Amsterdam, Dublin, and Brussels, Warrior One is very much in demand as a DJ too. Often appearing with Serocee or Rubi Dan on mic duties.
Recently, Carl has also appeared as star and composer for December 2010's big Nokia viral - Poodle Loop as well as documentary theme music for the BBC. Carl has recently composed the music for the next series of idents for C4s Skins (Clearasil).
