Soul Clap are more than just a DJ’s/ producers; they are an other-worldly duo determined to make you dance; or in the words of Elyte and Cynce, “free your mind and your ass will follow”.
Under the tutelage of Boston disco DJ Caril Mitro, who taught his protégé’s that “house wears many hats”, the duo were to exposed the finest in American dance music as well as developing a keen interest in crate digging for the best vinyl they could lay their hands on. Soul Clap slowly mastered all the elements that make a DJ; mixing, programming, knowledge, performance and experience.
Armed and ready, Soul Clap set off from their hometown and performed all over the globe, at venues such as the Marcy Hotel, Fabric, The Electric Pickle and Bar25 (and, if you believe bio on their website, Mars and Jupiter too).
The release of summer anthem ‘Extravaganza’ n 2010 saw Elyte and Cynce slowly gaining traction with their fresh approach, and produced remixes for Laid Back, Metronomy, Little Dragon, Robert Owens and DJ Harvey plus many more. Joining forces with Wolf + Lamb to mix an edition in the DJ Kicks series, they continued to break ground with a two month tour of 6 hour plus DJ sets.
2012 saw the release of their debut LP ‘EFUNK: The Album, programmed to listen to on one vinyl LP. The debut featured their cover of Egyptian Lover’s classic track ‘Alezby Inn’ which was so well appreciated by Egypt himself that a remix is due for release in 2013.
The pair are also the founders of Soul Clap Records, a label which features vinyl only tracks and 7” records, while 45” are a regular fixture in their live sets. Soul Clap Records also encompasses the Crew Love family, made up of Wolf + Lamb and Double Standards Records.
The year ahead shows no signs of slowing down, with a collaboration with the master of funk George Clinton and his C Kunspyruhzy label on the horizon, as well as a mixed compilation for recently relaunched UK Garage label Nice ‘n’ Ripe Records,
