Humberto Matias, the name behind the Social Disco Club idea, is a student of the past, but invests his time and creative energy in the present. He has received applause from auspicious sources – Greg Wilson, Pete Herbert (Reverso 68) and Steve Kotey (from Chicken Lips and the Bear Funk label fame). These admirers of the brand, Social Disco Club, play the records, praise the music and support Humberto's reputation as a dependable source for great music.
His blog www.socialdiscoclub.blogspot.com - has spread buzz, serving as a platform for his true and honest passion for disco culture and has unearthed a whole host of international admirers. The downloadable edits were so popular, that at times, the blog's bandwidth simply didn't suffice - a clear sign that Social Disco Club has developed some strong roots. From mp3, Social Disco Club evolved very quickly to the classic vinyl format. He released four 12”s, including two with the cult label Mindless Boogie and gained the respect, and a place in the record bags, of key names on the nu-disco scene like Aeroplane, Foolish Felix, Ray Mang, Pete Herbert and Faze Action.
Besides the recognition from his peers, Social Disco Club was equally well received by the public, a fact made clear since securing top spots in the Juno Records Sales charts (#4 in the general Sales chart & #1 in the disco chart) and landed the "Record of the Week" spot on Picadilly. With 2010 already kicking off at full-steam - with several 12”s ready to be released for important labels like Bear Funk, Eskimo and Disco Deviance. And in fact, the Bear Funk release will receive remix treatment by producer greats such as Greg Wilson, Disk Jokke and even Steve Kotey himself. Having graced the decks all over Portugal, as well as in Belgrade, Berlin, Milan, Manchester, and many more locations. Social Disco Club's sets are 100% disco, always classy, and always with respect for the music - to which he never compromises. The trip has just started, so stay tuned for more from this powerhouse producer, in the record shops & on the dancefloor.
