Being into club music since it’s tender age, Shonky graced the decks of a club for the first time in 1998 inspired by djs like Dan Ghenacia or Ivan Smagghe as a time when serious parisian clubbers revolved around the Kwality parties at the Batofar.
Since then he’s been regular in key parisian clubs like La Scene, Le Rex ou Le Nouveau Casino. His international pedigree includes Fabric in London, Panorama Bar in Berlin, Fuse in Belgium, Weetamix in Geneva.
Since his first production through FreaK ‘n Chic in 2005, he has now released through Mobilee, Sub Static and Resopal.
Are the true musical heroes those who go out on a limb and create challenging tracks that might not even work on the dancefloor? Or should we really be praising the hordes of blissfully instinctive slices of anonymity that flicker in and out of your favourite DJs set, happy to exist for the moment only?
One producer who has thrown his hat in with the latter camp is Parisian native Shonky, who over the course of a dozen or so club-thumping remixes and EPs has managed to carve out a niche as a reliably playable producer.
