A creative journey... Restless... Born in Bremen, Northern Germany, Nils is always looking for new challenges. After a zig-zag course through schools, universities and internships he ended up studying graphic design and finished as a graduated graphic designer.
Besides studying Nils had a little career as a party-promoter and cocktail-bar dj focusing on techno and 50s / 60s rhythm and blues. Also while studying in Bremen he got to know the local world-wide well known techno-family around Plantage13. Naming Oliver Huntemann, Thomas Schumacher and Stephan Bodzin.
He became the Plantage13 inhouse-designer and signs in charge for almost every cover, logo and website design related to these people. Since then he worked for labels like Moodmusic Records, Get Physical, Confused Recordings, Spielzeug Schallplatten, Giant Wheel Recordings, Herzblut Recordings,
Baalsaal Records / Club, Longdistance Recordings and international artists like Nicolas Masseyeff Nice / France and Mark Dynamix / Australia. Working for Criminal Records in July 2007 he was introduced to Chi-Thien Nguyen (aka Chopstick) and John Muder (aka Johnjon), the labelheads. Having worked on his own tracks in Reason as a hobby for a long time he started a studio session with John Muder and it clicked. They formed the duo Penner+Muder and finished their first demo within 1 month.
Two tracks off this demo we’re signed by Moodmusic Records from Berlin. The first 12” “Are You Lost” will be released in October 2008. Besides working on new material Nils and John managed to arrange a live-set which got a well attended premiere at a Moodmusic night at Panorama Bar berlin alongside well known artists like Sasse, Ewan Pearson, Dave DK, Craig Torrance and Dirt Crew. Living seperately in Hamburg and Berlin Nils and John now work on their first full length album also for Moodmusic Records. It is planned to be released around spring 2009. Besides that Nils is still heavily busy as the graphic-designer and sometimes shows up at well picked occasions as a credible 50s 60s rhythm and blues, rock’n’roll, soul dj.
