Nicolas Jaar received monumental praise in 2011 after breaking through as one of the most talented and exciting ne artists in electronic music. Concentrating on morphing dance floor structures and mindful ambience, his name has becone a household name in the last 2 years. Taking an open minded approach to music that reflects his equally open minded and colourful journey through life so far, Nico has stamped his mark on music in general through a deft mix of challenging sonic tapestries and strained, emotionally doused grooves.
The young Nicolas Jaar found himself being raised in Chile in the 90's, before returning as a teenager full of life epxerience and refreshed outlook. Beginning his musical life at the age of 14, the ever-intrigued Jaar found himself making organic electronic music through analogue samplers and equipment. Noted as a young talent sporting exceptional talent, his debut EP The Student, backed by a seal of approval remix by Seth Troxler. This led to him reguarily playing dates at Arena in Berlin, Club De Visionaire and also the famou Marcy hotel and club in Brooklyn.
After releasing singles through NY's Wolf + Lamb label, the NY born, Chilean national came to the fore on his second album Space Is Only Noise (the second after his debut 'Tre' on Circus Company, made before his literal ascension into the top league of the dance music plain). It received critcal acclaim from journalists, tastemakers and more across the board, earning him a coveted spot on the Essential Mix (voted the best of the year in 2012). Nico has toured the globe extensively, playing to sell out attendances at London Roundhouse, and festivals ranging from Sonar to Mutek and beyond.
Since then the budding, prodigal talent has turned the tender age of 21 and developed his engaging, brain engaging live sho into a full band setup. His sound already placed amongst experimental electronic producers and indie-dance outfits, his hynotic tones and seductive, meandering ryhthms. If he's not creating more divergences in electronic music and masking them in organic beauty, he's also running the Clown and Sunset imprint recently noted for backing the likes of underground talent Acid Pauli.
