Miss Match : SEXY•FUNKY•DIRTY•JACKIN’•MINIMAL•TECH•ELECTRO•HOUSE
Miss Match is without a doubt the freshest & hottest female talent to come out of Australia this decade.
In a male dominated industry she has defied the odds of being pushed off the decks by the boyz, and can definately hold her own with a talent & flair like no other behind the decks.
Falling in love with house music years before she even picked up the headphones, it didn’t take long to make the transition. Self-taught, many hours of practise and dodgy gigs later - she is one of the most sought after female DJ’s in Sydney in only 3 short years.
Miss Match holds residency at Mars Lounge, Bungalow 8, The Bank Hotel, The Penguin Cruises and most recently Defected @ Arthouse, and is a regular at such clubs as Chinese Laundry, The Mean Fiddler, Lady Lux, The Argyle, SPICE, King St Hotel in Newcastle and the Hi-Flyers Cruises. She has also ventured down to Melbourne to play at Billboard The Venue and plays regularly up in QLD at The Met in Brisbane, Rolling Rock in Noosa, 240v in Mooloolahbah and Townsville. With Adelaide and Perth already on the cards for 2008 it won’t be long before you are hearing the unique sets Miss Match near you.
Just recently on her overseas trip July/August 2007, she has played Tropicana, Paradise Club and Paradise Lounge in Mykonos, Greek Islands, taking her to international DJ status after only 3 years on the circuit. This last trip has led to her being offered a summer residency in 2008 in Mykonos allowing Miss Match to be based in Europe and spread her wings even further with gigs already lined up in London, Singapore and Greece.
“Growing up in the country didn’t give me the greatest opportunity to hear a lot of different styles of music, so you could consider me a late bloomer. Am more than happy to admit I was THE biggest Michael Jackson fan. I studied every album, dance move, outfit, lyrics, notes and music composition for years and years. Learning from the biggest entertainer in the world has taught me to aim for the top and to work hard to become the best...”
Even before the turntables were purchased, Miss Match had travelled the world with various DJ’s such as Jeremy Healy, Carl Cox, Eric Powell, Mistress Barbara, and DJ Heaven and got the opportunity to watch, learn and listen to some of the very best in the industry.
Miss Match started producing her own music in 2008 and “Tarantism” – is already out and cranking in clubs. It’s a House/Electro House track and fans of Miss Match will say it reflects her through and through. With Miss Georgia Brown on vocals & scratch ensembles by Bliss’n’Eso it is unique and distinctly Miss Match.
Something that also must be mentioned is her inspiration - the man who really opened her eyes to whom she owes her direction and strength to, and getting dirty on the decks - DJ Mitch James.
“Mitch was my partner of 5 years who passed away with cancer in 2001. I am carrying on his legacy and passion, and hope that by following my dreams I am able to bring the music we fell in love with, to the rest of the world...”
“Music has carried me through some of the best and worst times in my life.... the best times are now spent behind the decks...” Some other close friends and colleagues in the industry whom Miss Match has the utmost respect for, are Jonny and Dave from The Potbelleez who currently have the No.1 hit “Don’t Hold Back” saturating our airwaves with their extreme talent. www.myspace.com/thepotbelleez “Miss Match is without a doubt our favorite female DJ...Amanda is ‘incredible’ live. Her energy, skills, passion and natural presence and beauty behind the decks make her a very rare breed...She is the fastest rising female DJ star in Australia, but is a superstar already in our eyes, and it won’t take long before everyone knows about Miss Match...We adore her.” The Potbelleez
