From the demure suburbs of East Sydney comes a beast donning a jetpack and straddling a kick drum that can be felt from hear to Antarctica. Born in 2009 (year of the Ox) Light Year attained all the qualities needed to become a successful dance troupe. A partnership founded on adverse ideals and very uncommon habits. The one on the drum machine, the one with the small synth obsession, the one who drank still, the one who drank sparkling, the one with the height, the one with the width, the Biggie fan and the Pac fan.
Unbeknownst to the average dancer it was in fact a political statement of love for all things dance the boys were making with their higher learning anthem 'Sex Education' lifted from their March 2010 Ep release Night/Vision. Championed by the who's who and has a clue of the disc-jockey breed, including captains of cabaret Tiga, Mr. Oizo, Surkin (whom they have remixed for 10 bags of free gummy snakes) and 2many Dj's (who used it in their live show - cutting up a visual bonanza).
Realizing that time did in actual fact not stand still as they had originally believed, it took Light Year no time to produce their second EP which has hit like a ball and chain. '5 Girls' saw #23 getting a tanning from the likes of Erol Alkan, 2many Dj's (cutting up yet another visual bonanza - is it rude to name drop twice in one bio?), Feadz, Etienne de Crecy and has made appearances on Radio 1 being turned around by guys with voices like the Queen.
And so dawns a new age of the 3rd coming of Light Year.
To the future and beyond - where these young ice-cold powerhouse dweebs reside already - is where you will find a concoction of projects hitting the ground and bouncing up into your ear canals. A slew of remixes from their already humongous EP '5 Girls' have been curated and has been slated for a 2011 (year of the rabbit) release as well as collaborations with fellow countrymen. Light Year never stop!
