Groove Rebels

The Groove Rebels’ story of success begins shortly after the turn of the new millennium.

It starts hand in hand with the opening of the now-renowned 50 Degrees Club in Mainz, where the Rebels have shaped the musical development from day one. After their focus had evolved into electronic club music, they began touring the regional clubs, elating audiences throughout Mainz, Frankfurt, Darmstadt and many other cities.

Nowadays the Groove Rebels can proudly count on a core audience wherever they go in the Rhein-Main area, a fact which also is connected to the success of their breakthrough single 'Untight' on the Munich-based label Great Stuff in 2005 and the national attention which grew around the crew as from then.

Many productions on labels such as Hammarskjoeld, Polo, Harthouse and Toca45 followed soon after and represented SKAI’s and Deekay’s contemporary taste.

The attention of their tracks as well as the content of their cases is based on their motto 'Everything is legal, but Groove is Law!' ?This is where the reflectance of the two DJs settled in and instead of defining their sound as 'Electro-House', where their focus in the past years had lain, they began putting aside their background and origin.

In 2007 Deekay changed his name to his new alias Amir Ad Fontes which marked the beginning of their retrieval to their musical maxim: Rhythm and Grooves! Amir’s breakthrough single 'Virtual Nature' on Big City Beats Rec. stormed the German Club Charts reaching the pole position and was knighted by being licensed for Booka Shade’s 'DJ Kicks' Mix-compilation on !K7.

Since then the duo is not content being put in a musical pigeonhole and has found a symbioses within their own personal development, which harmonizes but also manages to surprise and excite not just the audience but also themselves.

Consequently this change of sound, ambition and state of mind has not been harmful to their career, on the contrary: Amir and SKAI are now more successful than ever, regularly playing in Sven Vaeth’s Cocoon Club and jet setting around the globe.
