Gregory Poncet is one half of deep techno duo Digitaline together with Laurent Laps Bovey. His solo project Gregorythme was launched in 2006, culminating in releases on labels such as Bruchstücke, Minibar, Sushitech, Minimood, Phictiv. More recently, Gregorythme has become a prominent member of the Zürich based Cityfox label family, with a selection of releases from both his projects appearing in the labels first 2 years of operation.
In all Gregory’s releases, he has shown a distinctive taste for pure grooves and psychedelic atmospheres, preferring to define himself more as a songmaker than simply a toolmaker. His love of melodies can be clearly seen in his most recent output on Cityfox, the « No Time No Space » EP, featuring the luscious vocals of Tigerlily floating over a seamless combination of raw electronic grinding beats and soft delicate chimes. This juxtaposition summarises Gregory’s eclectic and varied approach to his music.
Further to the Digitaline and Gregorythme projects, Gregory has also collaborated with Cityfox label owner Greenbank on Lion Dreams EP, as well as forming a brand new trio along with Ariel Garcia (synth - prog) and Marcin Rewki (vox - prog) going one step further in the direction of live electronic music.
Raoul Records is Gregory’s new project, where all these different ideas and tastes can fall into place. The label will allow all sorts of developments in the next years. The first release, Digitaline featuring Tigerlilly with Say So, already achieved great acclaim in the industry, with plays from Loco dice, DJ Koze, Troy Pierce, Mark Henning, Deetron, Magda, Adultnapper, Luca Bacchetti, Mikael Stavöstrand, Agaric, Daniel Sanchez, Ilario Alicante, Anthony Collins, David Labeij to name a few. More to come from Raoul and Gregory in 2011.
