BIOGRAPHY
Graeme Lloyd is one of the new breed of DJs who've emerged from the London club scene and are now starting to spread their wings. Graeme is also making his mark as a producer with the success of tracks like 'Candiru' and 'Rock 'n' Roll', and as label boss of his recently established StripBack Records imprint.
'Twisted techno house with a driving, progressive edge' is how Graeme describes his sound and its made him a firm favourite at nights like The Gallery where he's regularly joined Sister Bliss, Tall Paul, Benny Benassi and more. Since the closure of Turnmills and move to the Ministry of Sound, Graeme has continued to be part of the team at The Gallery and his regular sets in the Bar have made him a firm favourite with the crowd. Over the past three years Graeme has played at some of the biggest clubs in the world including Cream at Amnesia and Bora Bora in Ibiza; The Cross, Pacha and Egg in London; and the South West Four and Electric Garden festivals to name a few.
With such superb experience behind him, it wasn't long before international bookings followed including dates in Norway, Australia, Ukraine and Russia, in particular, where he has played several times with great success. There's also been a trip out to China to play at Shanghai's famous Club Bonbon. Back in London and 2008 has seen Graeme secure a residency with Twisted Disco at Pacha where he's played alongside Mason, The Japanese Popstars, Serge Santiago and Jerome Sydenham.
Graeme has flourished as a producer over the last twelve months and long nights spent in the studio are yielding serious results. In particular, his collaboration with The Catz, 'Candiru' on Playtime Records, has become a big track in the clubs. Awarded four stars in DJ magazine, it has become a firm favourite with many of big players and Nic Fanciulli is quoted as saying, "It's been the biggest track in my box for the last four months."
Graeme also released tracks on Devoré Recordings earlier this year, one his first solo release and the other in partnership with another of London's young talents Ben Dela-Pena. Another production project is his collaboration with fellow Gallery regular Tania von Pear and several tracks are ready to go. If that's not enough, Graeme is also the founder of the Subbass DJ Academy.
Things look set to step up a gear with the launch of StripBack Records imprint with Fabian Chui and the debut release, 'Rock 'n' Roll', from Graeme himself came with a very tasty remix package including a Luke Brancaccio 'Suicide Sports Club' mix and a version from The Catz. It's had some serious DJ support too with D.Ramirez, King Roc and Raymundo Rodriguez all getting involved.
Forthcoming releases include 'Waveform' from Graeme with a cracking remix from Tommy Four Seven, while his 'Upstream' track was included on the 'Ibiza' cover CD of the July issue of iDJ Magazine. Throw into the equation a series of parties planned for London in the autumn with some spectacular line-ups and new releases and artists planned for the label, and StripBack really mean business. It's rock 'n roll, baby!
