BIOGRAPHY
Dan McKie is from Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, now based in London, UK and loving it.
Dan first spent 3 and half years in a dj/production duo, where he produced original and remixes, with his partner, for MOS, Skint, Ovenready, Minimal, AATW, Sony/BMG, Effin/USA. And DJ’ed in such places as Kazakhstan, Washington DC (Bi - Monthly Residency), Switzerland, Las Vegas (LVMC), Germany, and also ran one off events in Newcastle having guests such as the Dub Pistol and Mint Royale. But that was then and this is Now!
Since going solo in late 2006 Dan has collaborated with Andrew Galea (Dj Bomba, Souls Seekerz, Etc), Andy Morris (Narcotic Thrust), Max’C (from ‘Axwell- Found U’ Fame), Ralphie Romance (Richard F’s Production partner), Thee O, Rita Campbell, Zimbardo (P&Z), Phil England and Licious K, with many more in the pipeline, as well as doing many original productions himself.
Currently Dan has tunes signed to Nukleuz, Big In Ibiza, Pure Funk, Slip N Slide, System (USA), Micro, Emotive, Grooved Music, Full Body Sound Systems, Blue Dove, Reticent and Suburban Tracks plus he is constantly in talks with many more worldwide! The Most recent deal Dan has signed is a multi remix, multi single deal with the hugely branded Pacha Recordings!
When Dan is not producing originals in the studio, he can be found remixing the likes of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Lady GaaGa, Colton Ford, Zimbardo, Dom Kane, on such labels as Joia, Positiva, Warner Bros, Sony, Universal, Columbia, Gusto, EMI, Newstate, RCA/BMG, Simply Recordings, Slip & Slide, and his own imprint 1980 Recordings to name just a few.
As Part of Dan’s production and engineering side, he has produced the mix down of ‘Quentin Harris’s’ production, Colton Ford – That’s Me, For USA Video (MTV) and Radio as well as producing the extended mix and a typically dirty Dan McKie Dub!
Dan has signed up with Bill Coleman @ Peace Bisquit for an exclusive remix/producer deal. He joins the likes of Morgan Page, Ultra Nate, The Ones, N’Dea Davenport, Chris Willis (of David Guetta Fame) etc, so he’s in good hands.
And if that’s not enough!
Dan continues to run his own record labels, 1980 Recordings, now in its second year. With several release’s already under its belt from the likes of Tim Andresen, Dj Filip, Licious K, Danny Armstrong, Dani-L Mebius, Digital Filth and himself. The Label just keeps going from strength to strength with more huge tracks in the Pipeline. Definitely one of the label to watch in 2008!
Dan’s other record label, Ginger Trax, is purely for his own productions and collaborations , with some hot production lined up, this is one label you will see popping up everywhere.
Dan continues to remix and produce top quality house/Dance music. That’s getting support from all the big players all over the world including Pete Tong, Tall Paul, Andi Durrant, Jonathan Ulysses, Axwell, Judge Jules, Steve Lawler, John Digweed, etc, etc!!
Dan enjoys Djing across the world at such places as 333, (London), Ministry Of Sound (London), Prague (Czech Republic), Zadar (Croatia), Berlin, Turnmills (London), Egg (London), Las Vegas, Russia, Greece, Germany. If there’s a club near you then Dan will be producing the energy from behind the decks!
