As a result of the collaborations between the DJ-& Producer-Team Robosonic and the Berlin Mitte Institut [BMI], a popular Berliner live Web TV show focussing on concepts related to electronic music culture, the Berlin Kreuzberg Institut [BKI] came to life.
The BKI brings a monthly “radio session” (aka podcast) to your ears, harddrives and iPods. The podcast features DJ mixes and live-sets of better and lesser known DJs and producers of electronic dance music from and outside of Berlin, as well as label showcases.
The duration varies, mostly the podcast is in a 2-4 hour format (MP3 // 192kbps). As of 2010, all the BKI content is hosted on SoundCloud, who are kindly endorsing us for our cultural project.
The focus of the Berlin Kreuzberg Institut shows is the “special thing” that makes both the music we select for our listeners’ pleasure, as well as the guests we invite, stand out. We don’t only want to present you the glossy big names and artists who have been featured a million times before. BKI tries to discover young talents and hopes to re-discover those who have been working, living and hiding “underground” for years, doing their thing and developing the music we love.
The first hour of a BKI show is regularly reserved to Robosonic, who bring you their favourite electronic dance music tracks of the month [not necessarily dancefloor-driven], as well as lyrical contributions. The rest of the show is destined to guest artists, who are invited to record a DJ mix or a liveset.
Occasionally, BKI teams up with NOICE! [run by the publicist Harry Avers] for show collabs [called "BKI limited & NOICE!"].
We’re not following a strict broadcasting plan, but provide new podcasts when we think there is something interesting to be discovered and listened to. To keep in touch with the music, simply sign up for our newsletter, follow RSS-feeds and find us on our social platforms.
