As a DJ, Alex Taylor needs no introduction, having been at the forefront of Australia’s dance music scene for well over a decade. With a passion for house music from soulful, deep and minimal to electro and big room, he has forged a name for himself that sees him playing regularly across the country and around the world.
With residencies at some of the country’s biggest clubs including a 7-year residency at Sydney’s superclub Home to playing to tens of thousands at events such as the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, Alex’s CV reads like the Who’s Who of Australian dance party history. Alex has played at a multitude of major events across the nation such as the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, Sleaze Ball, Sydney’s harbour side party, Azure, Fuzzy Parklife, Mobile Home, Queer Nation and Big Queer Nation, Winterdaze, Red Raw, Home Bake, Gatecrasher, Two Tribes, various Pride parties around the country, playing at a private party for Madonna during her Girly Show tour of Australia and playing at the pre-gig U2 cocktail parties in Sydney.
Having just returned from his eighth season in Ibiza, which saw him playing for the always rocking We Love Sunday’s @ Space, alongside many of the world’s biggest and best DJ’s. Alex has also taken his trademark sound to London, Ibiza, Auckland, LA, San Francisco, Macau, Kuala Lumpur, Bali, Bangkok, Shanghai, Singapore and Seoul.
Regularly booked around the country at venues such as The Family in Brisbane, Moulin Rouge, Dragonfly and Mars Lounge in Sydney, Gilligans in Cairns, Frisk in Perth and Slide, Arq and The Midnight Shift in Sydney, all ensuring that not only is Alex Taylor one very busy DJ, but the dance-floor and punters are kept busy rocking to his trademark sound.
Since it's inception Alex has been consistently voted into the Technics Inthemix Top 50 Australian DJ's and won the DIVA Award for 'Best DJ' in ’94,’96,’97,’98 and ’99.
To date, Taylor has mixed eight CDs including the Ministry Of Sound's Clubber's Guide To 2003 and more recently ‘Addictions’ on Melbourne label Vinyl Pusher. In the past two years he has been producing and remixing with studio partner Rob Taylor; their first remix of Hi Fi Mike's – ‘I'll Carry You’ reaching number 13 in the ARIA Club Chart. With his most recent production being a remix of the new ATFC feat. Inaya Day single, ‘Reach Out To Me’ which reached number 4 on the ARIA Club Chart and was released on Onephatdeeva Records in the UK. Similarly Alex’s Taylor Square remix of Inaya’s cover of 80’s hit ‘Breakaway’ sat pretty in the ARIA Club Chart top ten for weeks.
