Not many djs can trace their roots back to the tender age of 14 and watching their older sister wowing the crowds on the underground house scene, but this is exactly where hot new techno star Adam Shaw first felt the bug that would transform his life.
But it was a trip to watch the legendary Funk D’Void, and the chance to hear the latest sounds in the emerging techno scene that changed Adam’s future. The sound inspired Adam so much that upon completion of his studies, he delved straight into the world of music production. And it proved to be the right step.
His first release ‘Sick Note’ that swiftly gained support from Luke Dzierzek, Dave Robertson, Chaim, Shinedoe and Ame amongst others. Word soon started to spread on his prodigious talent, and before long, Adam was being tipped as one to watch for the future.
Long hours spent honing his sounds in the studio were soon rewarded with the superlative ‘Screamo’ that was instantly signed to PH Zero. The track received support from Sebastien Leger, Carl Cox, Rene Amez, and Micky Slim and simultaneously raised Adam’s profile even further – cementing his status as one of the most promising talents on the UK
scene.
Adam’s follow up on PH Zero was ‘How Pretentious’ and support was unprecedented. The track was played by Pete Tong, Dubfire, Deadmau5, John Digweed, M.O.D.E., Mark Knight, Nic Fanciulli, and every other major a-list dj, and Adam was suddenly inundated with remix offers from the biggest labels in the industry.
With his own original work on a roll, Adam decided to turn down various offers for remix work and concentrate on increasing his biography, and his latest track ‘Engage’ was instantly snapped up by world famous CR2 Records. Meanwhile, the remix offers continued to flood in.
So it was when the offer to remix Deadmau5’s ‘Alone With You’ arrived that Adam decided to take his first steps into the world of remixes. The project was completed and is already being described as Adam’s best work to date – early support from Pete Tong, Deadmau5 and Laurent Garnier is testament to his superlative production skills.
His debut remix was swiftly followed by a storming remix on world famous Azuli Records on the legendary Chicken Lips on their latest track ‘Do It Proper’ that is set for release in mid 2008. First reports are that the remix will be a huge success for the label, and further requests from some of the world’s best labels are now on the table.
Adam is currently working on a new remix for CR2, after which Berlin based Big Star have selected Adam to remix two tracks for their excellent label. These projects are to be followed by further work on his own original projects and his step into the world of dj’ing with offers coming in from some of the hottest clubs around the world.
As 2008 continues to roll on, keep a watchful eye on Adam Shaw – one of the finest new talents on the scene in many a year.
