America's Pacific Northwest isn't exactly known for underground house and techno, which seems odd given the counterculture scenes in cities like Portland and Seattle. But clearly there's something brewing—case in point, Jason Burns, a Portland native who has released on labels like Toolroom, Nurvous, and RAM Recordings, and now comes in hot with the high-energy acid bomb "Monochromatic World."

Despite its namesake, "Monochromatic World" is anything but dull. A galloping rhythm urges the energy forward as the 303 loops, squelches and builds to the song's crescendo, when melancholic strings, a mysterious vocal sample and fluttering melody throw things into overdrive. 

"Monochromatic World" comes via the three-track Once Again EP on Soup NYC, out on July 13th, 2018. Check out the premiere below.
