Italian Luigi Madonna is a longtime resident at Amnesia in Ibiza.
He’s commanded huge audiences for years and always manages to set the space up for whoever plays after him. He’s a producer of some repute, too, with cuts on labels like Plus 8 and Drumcode that are always colourful and kinetic. Next to his Amnesia residency he plays many other places round the world, including The BPM Festival in Portugal on September 20th, and you can get tickets here.
He knows better than anyone what music works in such a huge space, so we asked him about some of the tunes that have become real classics there over the years.
Hugg & Pepp - Snabeln
Because it was my first season in Ibiza and the first time I heard Sven Väth play he played this.
Mathew Jonson - Marionette
I think this is one of the best tracks ever.
Anthony Rother - Father
When I heard this live in Amnesia I wanted to die!
Nathan Fake - The Sky Was Pink (James Holden remix)
The music speaks for itself here.
Booka Shade - Oh Superman
This track takes me on a long trip.
2000 And One - Tropical Melons
Was one of the most played tracks in 2005 and I still love it!
Romanthony - Let Me Show You Love
There was a season that Carola played this one he won the whole thing.
Gabriel Ananda - Glitter
This track takes me into a nice summer vibe.
Ricardo Villalobos-Que Belle Epoque
Ricardo cannot miss out from my list. Simple.
Miss Kittin - I Beat That Bitch With A Hit
It was my first time at Amnesia and she was playing this track as her last one, so it makes me crazy!
