Vietnam’s Quest Festival is on the right track as it prepares for this year’s edition with a fresh lineup of eclectic international and local performers.
After months of deliberation, the organisers have selected a stellar list of emerging artists from the UK, Hong Kong, Japan and, of course, Vietnam, encompassing various genres from jazz to grime, dub and house and a hint of techno.
Leading the list of headliners for 2018 is Birmingham-born singer/MC Eva Lazarus who’s gain popularity for her full power vocals in the dancehall/dub scene. Joining her on the list is UK DJ, multi-instrumentalist and prolific collaborator Swindle and Bristol-based DJ, Chris Munky.
Closer to home, regional acts like Japan’s dreamy jazz-dance electronica act Based On Kyoto, Hong Kong-based Blood Wine Or Honey, Filastine & Nova and the soulful troop of mavericks that make up Hanoi’s own Hanoing Jazz Band have also been added to Quest’s impressive lineup.
The festival will also feature its Quest Takeovers once again, which will give Southeast Asia’s musical trail-blazers the chance to curate their own lineup of diverse and creative collaborations. Hanoi-born and Berlin-based Ele Records along with Bangkok’s Slum Disco will return with new allies while the unofficial techno Sunrise Sunset stage will come alive with Die Empathy.
Festival punters will also get to go on a Cosmic Psytrance Adventure with Hanoi psytrance favourites Odyssey Tribe & Liquid Hive and compete in the Bass Olympics with BASStard.
Quest Festival is happening from November 23 to 25, 2018. Find out how you can score tickets to this eclectic event here.
