After making a successful debut in Asia last year, the Hong Kong edition of Sónar is set to return on March 17th featuring an impressive first wave lineup to boot.
Last year’s massive bill featured well-established selectors like DJ Shadow, Gilles Peterson, Ellen Allien, DJ Tennis and Dave Clarke. The perfectly curated line-up also included some of Asia’s finest deck maestros like ASquared, Jeremy Cheung, Fresh Funky and Taku Hirayama.
This year’s selection includes French legend, Laurent Garnier, one of the world’s most exciting DJs, The Black Madonna and Japanese band, Mouse on the Keys. Joining them at the festival are Jacques, Keys N Krates, Symbiz, Heidi, Laurel Halo, Mala, Mount Kimbie, Sevdaliza, Fotan Laiki, K-Melo, Re:Flex, Sunsiaré, Basil Tam and Tedman Lee.
These acts represent multiple genres including hip-hop, house, techno, grime and more to fulfill the needs of various music fans. Music performances aside, the festival will also be bringing back the Sónar+D, its creative technology programme. This segment of Sónar will once again feature experimental artists and innovators showcasing their art, and talent through demonstrations, workshops, talks and installations.
“Last year was such a huge success and a positive experience all round that our approach is to very much retain the same format of the event and focus instead on enhancing the overall quality of the content across the full spectrum of electronic music and the +D programme,” said Magnetic Asia CEO, Mike Hill to South China Music Post.
