After five years throwing epic parties in Croatia, Lighthouse Festival took the plunge in Cape Town, hosting an unforgettable one-day fest at the picturesque coastal town of Kommetjie.
The inaugural event saw acts like HVOB, andhim and Marco Resmann take punters on a journey of high-brow electronic music, with local stalwarts Vinny Da Vinci, Terrence Pearce, Stone-age Citizens and Thibo Tazz supporting the internationals.
The sold-out event laid a solid foundation for the Lighthouse crew to continue in South Africa, and on February 24th it returns for what promises to be another highlight of the festival calendar.
In the first phase lineup, Lighthouse confirms Brazilian artist Gui Boratto and Ostgut Ton’s Cassy.
Gui Boratto started releasing music on labels like EMI, Virgin and BMG as part of Brazilian pop-dance act Sect in the ‘90s. As the owner of Megamusic and co-founder of D.O.C., he has become a tastemaker within the electronic music spectrum, releasing on prolific labels like Plastic City, Circle and Kompakt in his own capacity.
With having held residencies at clubs like Panorama Bar, Rex and Trouw, Cassy is a mainstay of the European electronic music circuit. She has since become a resident at the legendary Ibiza party Circoloco, releasing on Ostgut Ton, Uzuri and Playhouse, as well as her own Cassy and Kwench imprints.
Lighthouse Festival takes place on February 24th, with satellite parties on the 23rd and 25th.
