The International Music Summit is returning to Ibiza in 2018, and today has announced details of the 11th edition, taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel from May 23rd-25th.
In keeping with the conference's focus on the most pressing issues of the moment, IMS 2018 will examine heavily both health and wellness and alleged sexual harassment within the dance music industry.
Specifically, IMS is hosting an all-new wellness retreat before the main IMS summit. With the aim of addressing the mental and physical problems a fast-paced industry lifestyle can lead to, the wellness retreat will help attendees disconnect from the stresses of everyday life for three days at a soon-to-be-revealed location. Full details about the event will be released next month.
Also addressing sexual harassment, IMS has invited SHE SAID.SO to speak about the root causes and impact of harassment against women with the aim of reducing its existence.
Other topics at IMS Ibiza 2018 include 25 Years of Sonar: Shaping Underground Culture, which will highlight the Barcelona festival's many accomplishments over two and a half decades; Meet Team Black Coffee, in which the South African DJ and his team talk about their hugely triumphant rise onto both the Ibiza and world stage; and IMS will dig into the growing talents happening across the Middle East, including UAE, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine for the geographical focus of the conference.
There will also be a mental health discussion hosted by the Association for Electronic Music examining how to stay mentally balanced in music industry with DJS Complaining or Real Problems?, along with talks on the Positiva Records 25th anniversary and How The Role of The A&R Man Has Evolved with Jason Ellis, Nick Halkes and Dave Lambert.
IMS co-founder Ben Turner states in a press release: “Health Vs Hedonism was our most popular talk in 2017, and it put us on the path of delivering more in the Wellness area for delegates. It’s a topic that is marrying professionals of all ages and gender, and we’re excited to offer something unique to an industry that is in need of greater advice and direction. It also affects many of the issues in our space, and people’s behavioural patterns around it. We’re also proud to focus on Black Coffee, Sonar and Positiva for their contributions to our world – past, present and future.”
There's plenty more in store for next year's conference, and delegate badges are now on sale at discounted pricing. Head to the IMS website for full details.
