2017 has been a big year for South Africa’s techno scene, with brands like Future Frequency, TOY TOY and Knowledge Records bringing DVS1, Radio Slave, Sam Paganini and more to the locals.
To end the year with a bang, TOY TOY, Knowledge and Vault bring another techno stalwart from techno institute Berghain—Ostgut Ton and Dekmantel artist Anthony Parasole.
Hailing from New York City, Parasole has become a prominent figure in the global house and techno scene. Once a buyer at famed record store Halcyon, he now has many contacts in the industry, including his friend Levon Vincent, who he started the Deconstruct Music record label with. Vincent’s debut EP on the label, Invisible Bitchslap, sold out in a week.
Parasole has since released on labels like Marcel Dettmann’s MDR, had his track “TYSON" featured on Vincent’s Fabric 63, and through Ostgut Ton has become a resident at Berghain and Output in NYC.
With a deep, raw, driving, rhythmic, percussive, and mesmerizing sound, Anthony Parasole is a pillar of the scene in New York and a master selector of house and techno.
Parasole plays at AND Club in Johannesburg on December 8th and Modular in Cape Town on the 9th.
