As the festival season kicks off in South Africa, the first Capsule Festival takes place on September 16th at the Mary Fitzgerald Square in Johannesburg, in association with Sportscene.

Bringing together all the elements that make up urban culture, the festival will not only include a skate park, brand pop-up stores, art installations and a charity celebrity basketball tournament,  but also performances by American rappers A$AP Ferg and Nasty C, along with some of SA’s hottest hip hop talent.

Joining the A$AP Mob rapper across the two stages will be Kwesta, DJ Speedsta, Frank Casino, Dunn Kidda, YoungstaCPT, Loyd, DJ Joey Drumz and many more, representing Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg and Cape Town.

As the first festival of its kind, Capsule will offer a credible platform for celebrating SA street culture in all its forms.

“The street culture scene in SA has never been this big and impactful, yet the industry lacks a safe and family friendly event that brings all these street culture elements together in one place", says Jonathan Muir of Sportscene. “We believe the Capsule Fest offers the market just that and hence we're super excited to host the first of what will hopefully be many editions to come”.
