Johannesburg was abuzz last weekend with a handful of festivals and parties packed with some of the best local and international acts at Major League Gardens Social Arts Festival and Capsule Festival.

It was a great honor to witness these artists put their heart and soul into their performances, and we’re elated to share some of the best performances from last weekend.

Sho Madjozi

Few have had a better 2017 than vernacular rapper Sho Madjozi, who puts together an inspired performance with every opportunity she gets. Dressed in her traditional getup she left fans in a heightened atmosphere, clapping and whistling while displaying her Tsonga dance moves. She’s most certainly breaking the barriers of what woman in South Africa can achieve.

Shane Eagle

It’s no secret that Shane Eagle is one the most exciting artists in the country. Since his stint in television the independent rapper and label owner of Eagle Entertainment has always been ahead of the pack, recently releasing his debut album Yellow. The true essence of his prowess and journey comes to life in his live performances, where he uses his raps to connect with his fans in as many ways as possible. he composed a masterpiece and knows very well how to capture his emotions in his music. His track “Let It Flow” is a perfect example of how he is able to deliver a message.

YoungstaCPT

The Western Cape native continues to prove his ability. A common misconception is that people won’t love your music because you have a foreign accent, but YoungstaCPT continues to defy the doubters. With a trademark freestyle and performing a few of his hits, he gave hip hop enthusiasts all the elements they needed to keep their head-bopping in check, which set the tone for an impeccable live performance.

Nasty C

This honcho is currently SA’s youngest super rapper and has been making waves for local hip hop enthusiasts to surf for a couple of years already. He didn't need much time to get an immense reaction from the festival crowd and deliver an epic performance. Nasty C is at his peak ahead of the summer and has followed-up well from his album Bad Hair Extensions, which is evident in the love he received off-the-back of his Ivyson tour.

Asap Ferg

The fashion guru and member of the world renowned ASAP Mob crew, ASAP Ferg delivered several of his hit-singles accompanied by tracks from his latest album Still Striving. The highly anticipated headliner delivered a strong performance during his first trip to South Africa and fanatics made it clear that they were happy to have him here.

Major League Gardens and Capsule Festival equally displayed great innovation in advertising and music events programming, which contributed to all the elements necessary to create a fun filled day at the respective events. After attending both festivals it's safe to say that aspiring artists and creatives have great targets to work towards in South Africa.
