Eminem is back to the big screen with another film about battle rapping, following up his 2002 semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile with producer credits on the upcoming satirical battle-rap comedy, Bodied.
According to IMDB, Bodied follows a "progressive graduate student" who "finds success and sparks outrage when his interest in battle rap as a thesis subject becomes a competitive obsession."
Staring Anthony Michael Hall, Debra Wilson, Charlamagne tha God and Calum Worthy, as well as several famed battle rappers, the comedy/drama puts race relations and cultural appropriation at the centre of the story, which is based on a script written by rap battle champion and screenwriter, Alex “Kid Twist” Larsen.
Directed by Joseph Kahn, who made his name directing music videos for Eminem, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and U2, Bodied will premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
