South African rap star Cassper Nyovest is under pressure to find enough money for his Fill Up FNB Stadium concert on December 2nd at FNB Stadium.
Cassper told TshisaLIVE that he was struggling to find sponsors for the massive event, which takes place in just under 100 days.
“The show will cost about R15 million to put on, maybe more.” he said. “Right now we don't have any sponsors so I am financing it myself: The stage, the marketing and the venue. I hope that sponsors will come on board and help. I feel like we have proven ourselves before with two sold out shows (at The TicketPro Dome and Orlando Stadium) and so it's a safe investment."
Three years ago, Cassper’s ambitious idea came to fruition. And at age 24, he filled up the 20,000 capacity TicketPro Dome in North Riding, Johannesburg on October 31st 2015.
This year however, he planned to host the concert at the larger FNB stadium, aiming for a crowd of 75,000 people. But with no sponsors and not enough personal funds, things are looking bleak for this year’s concert.
On August 25th he tweeted: “Right now, I’m writing this tweet with no sponsor, no money for the stage, marketing and the labour. But I am trusting God cause he never fails me.”
