Now in its fifth year, Malaysia’s much-loved Good Vibes Festival has finally revealed its full lineup, returning to the breezy highlands on August 12 and 13 at The Ranch in Gohtong Jaya.
With more genres of music to be showcased at this year’s event, Good Vibes is setting up an additional music stage at the Star Club, bringing the total number of stages to four, including the two main Red and Blue stages and the Electric Fields stage.
The organisers of this homegrown outdoor party, Future Sound Asia, have once again curated a diverse bill, featuring international acts like French power-pop foursome Phoenix, American rapper G-Eazy, Irish chart-toppers Kodaline, Britpop giants The Kooks, English dark-synth pop singer-songwriter Dua Lipa, American multi-instrumentalist maestro GRYFFIN, the up-and-coming Norwegian producer Lido, British electronic duo Snakehips, and the mysterious ZHU.
A strong list of local Malaysian artists have also been added to this year’s affair, including dreamy electronic singer-songwriter Orang, Lapsap and Twilight Actiongirl’s own DJ XU; house, disco and deep tech specialist Axel Groove, and producer and turntablist DJ Biggie. The will be joining the likes of party starter Arabyrd, indie and nu-disco veteran Bunga, Malaysian DJ superstar Goldfish, the soulful songstress Najwa, and art-punk outfit Killeur Calculateur.
“We have been supporting Good Vibes Festival since its inception in 2013 and are proud to come on board again this year,” said General Manager of Malaysia Major Events, Tony Nagamaiah, who works with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia.
“The festival has come a long way and has become one of the country’s most popular homegrown music festivals, attracting independent artistes and fans from around the region. This is a testament that Malaysia is increasingly becoming a preferred destination for world-class live entertainment events, and further proof that we are on par with other countries in the region in hosting international music festivals,” he continued.
