There are many different sounds that comprise South Africa’s multicultural dance music scene. By bringing the various elements together, one can create something truly unique that crosses boundaries and unites people through music. And the collaboration between GoodLuck and DJ Ganyani is a prime example of that.
The live electronic trio connected with Afro house king DJ Ganyani through a simple interaction on Twitter. The result is “Fading”, a smooth soulful house tune with Afro percussion, guitar licks and of course the sultry voice of GoodLuck’s talented vocalist.
The track debuted at number on the YFM charts and the South African House music chart in the first week of release. And by popular demand the track is now available on iTunes and Apple Music.
Although a surprising collaboration, “Fading” is a master stroke which fills a curious void in SA’s dance music industry. It represents the combined power of two relatively separate scenes within the country and is hopefully the first of more collaborations between more disparate sounds/genres in SA.
Having started the year with two major signings to Ultra Music and Armada, GoodLuck continue to shine and produce world-class dance music with a broad appeal. And their latest move with with one of the veterans of Afro house is a sure sign of the future of SA dance music.
Listen to “Fading” on iTunes.
