Providing a platform for local artists to showcase their talent has always been one of kyō’s mission statements since the very beginning. While bringing in international acts is part of their portfolio, kyō endlessly supports their local heroes. Their resident DJs are also given the opportunity to host their own label, and collective nights at both the Singapore and Kuala Lumpur venues.
The brand is taking things up a notch with the continuous development of kyō Records. The label has now joined Stripped Music Management, which is owned by the legendary Norman H. Stripped Recordings have charted releases by the likes of Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Maher Daniel and Juan Carlos Herrera.
kyō Records will work on releasing high quality mixed and unmixed compilation albums from established artists like Oxia, who compiled and mixed their first and only record to date. They also plan to showcase the amazing work of local producers. Proton Music / Proton Radio will be taking on digital distribution to all major stores and streaming services.
The kyō team, Godwin Pereira and Sanjeev Raj have been working closely with Norman H to ensure this collaboration. The label’s first release kyō 001, a mix by Oxia featuring tracks and remixes by Moderat, Carl Craig, DJ Koze, Pablo Bolivar and Ross Evans, is available for streaming. Check out the exclusive mix below. Kyō 002 and kyō 003 are currently in the works.
