With so many parties pushing boundaries and taking the scene to new heights, innovation is tough to accomplish in this day and age. So when a truly unique experience comes around, people have no choice but to take note.

Last year, a collection of seven passionate music enthusiasts came together to create ATOM, a monthly party at Cape Town’s renowned Waiting Room that caters to underground techno music. With an acute attention to detail, they personalise the space with ferns, incense, the odd gemstone and beams of refracting light, which cut through the fog; and synaesthetic visuals by Pupil are mapped onto circular screens.

When merged with the deep, dark, dubby techno and house sounds that define their audio identity, the unique experience they create has made the party one of the most sought after in Cape Town. Seldom venturing further than 120 BPM, ATOM offers an alternative music experience, held together solely by their passion.

Together with Cape Town techno outfit Killer Robot, ATOM will host Italy’s Claudio PRC at Era on Saturday, March 4th. As the co-founder of record label The Gods Planet with labelmate Ness, he’s a pivotal figure in the new wave of deep techno emerging from Italy. In only a few years, Claudio has made a significant contribution to the worldwide techno scene through releases on Semantica and Prologue, as well as his own aforementioned label.

Claudio will be joined by Bruno Morphet—representing Killer Robot—and a hefty supporting cast featuring Johannesburg native Mvelo, Mikey & Shumi—both of ATOM and their own Intrinsic Audio Sessions—Shift Mawelele and Lyon of Deeto Sessions.
