After releasing their Overtime compilation in September 2016, Do Work Records show no signs of slowing in the new year, continuing to release quality music with broad appeal while exposing untapped South African talent to the world.
Expanding their already impressive roster of artists, they’ve released a monster house track from Johannesburg-based duo Evida. Made up of brothers Liam and Richard Jones, Evida hit national airwaves last year with their song “You Gotta”. This energetic tune was named Hottest Track in South Africa before hitting the top of the Dance and Mainstream charts on 5FM, and their subsequent remix of Majozi’s “The Woods” took them to number one on the OFM and Jacaranda radio charts.
At just 19- and 21-years-old, Evida have just begun to show their prowess to the world, and this release is a good sign of things to come.
More recently, Do Work artist Garcon continues to shine with his newly released track “All night” featuring the vocals of Nicole Solomon. The bass-heavy house tune is a definite floor filler and will no doubt go down well in South Africa.
Apart from his releases on Do Work, Garcon has also remixed two prominent Brazilian artists, Vintage Culture and Alok, hinting at one day bridging the gap between scenes in Brazil and South Africa—two countries with a deep love for G-house.
With Do Work gaining momentum for the cold winter seasons ahead, you can be sure it’s going to be one helluva ride for this locally invested label.
