Here are five acts you cannot miss at the season closing party.
DJ Invizable & Computa General
The mythical DJ Invizable might seem like a being from the distant future, but Nick Matthews is no stranger to the musical environment in South Africa. For over 10 years, Nick has been the driving force behind Gazelle, Coda and Iridium Project, releasing on the local Heads and Tails label since 2007. With an enigmatic presence, a stunning future-afro visual aesthetic and electrifying performances with his keytar, his sets create a sense of bewilderment on the dancefloor while keeping his audience grooving to the experimental house beats.
A firm favourite within the South African house scene, Jazzuelle’s tireless work in the studio has seen him release on Get Physical, Lazy Days and Juicy Lucy, as well as play the best festivals in the country. With his debut album releasing later this year on the aforementioned Get Physical imprint, it’s clear that he is on top of his game and is taking South African house music to new heights. His knack for reading a crowd also places him as one of the finest DJs in the country.
Blazing his way through the ranks of the deep house scene in Cape Town, DWSON has been on impeccable form since the release of his More Of You EP on Cruel Section Records in January, landing tracklistings on Kid Fonque’s Selective Styles radio show on 5FM and Vinni Da Vinci’s Urban Beat on Metro FM. He is an unadulterated and unapologetic artist that delivers nothing but quality every time.
Off the back of this International Naaier tour of Australia, which saw him perform in five different Australian cities, Youngsta steps up to deliver another world-class performance at Sizzled. As one of Cape Town’s biggest hip hop figures, he has developed a reputation for commanding the stage and energising the crowd. Armed with a string of hit-singles, countless mixtapes and albums and an undeniably entertaining Cape Townian swagger, Youngsta is paving the way for a new generation of hip hop artists to fly the flag for SA.
The Uppercut Crew have been consistently hosting quality hip hop events in Cape Town since 2011, with weekly parties and the monthly Button Bashers producer beat battle at The Waiting Room. Represented at Sizzled by The Alvhinator and White Nite, Uppercut have become a staple within the city, bringing vast musical knowledge together with a forward-thinking approach to music, executing hip hop sets that can rock any crowd.
