American RnB singer Trey Songz has been announced as this year's Coke Studio artist to provide his skills for the collaborative project. The singer will be appearing on the season finale of Coca-Cola's music show airing on e.tv on November 19th this year and will be collaborating with South African superstar producer Maphorisa, as well as many other African music stars.
Trey Songz will be flying to Nairobi to record in the Coke Studio as well as perform with artists from eleven participating countries. Included are African artists Nyashinski (Kenya), Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania), Stonebwoy (Ghana) and Neyma (Mozambique), as well as South Africa's own Emtee. Producing the soundtrack for this massive collaboration will be Maphorisa, best known for his hit single Soweto Baby, as well as his contribution to Drake's chart-topping single One Dance.
Coke Studio is a non-competitive music show that brings together local and international talent to work with world-class artists for an exclusive showcase. The 2016 edition of the show kicked off on August 27th. The second season will include collabs between AKA and Patoranking, Cassper Nyovest and Diamond Platnumz, and Angolan artist Landrick with Ash Muzic. Other South African pairings will include rapper Nasty C with Buffalo Soulja and SAMA-award winning Rap artist Fifi Cooper with Ryki.
