The glorious Summer season is well underway and looking at the amount of quality events we have in store in South Africa this year; we are in for one of the best seasons to date. Following Tomorrowland Unite in July and Oppikoppi, Grietfest, Sunflower Festival and Marc Romboy's South African tour in August; South Africa have already experienced some of the finest parties on the calendar. But the rest of the 2016/2017 season has a lot more on the cards..

The first weekend of September saw a barrage of quality artists flock to Johannesburg for the Red Bull Music Academy Weekender, including two epic performances by one of the funkiest dub bands in the world, Fat Freddy's Drop. On the same nights, the mobilee World Tour landed in Mzansi, bringing Rodriguez Jr. and Ralf Kollman to the frothing crowds at ERA, Citilec and And Club. The psytrance community got a kick start in the shape of Moksha and Alien Safari's Sprung, bringing the stompers out for one of their first outdoor workouts for the year. The month of October is always a big one as people gear up to launch into full party mode, and there's always something awesome to be experienced. Most notably, one of South Africa's favourite festivals, Rocking The Daisies kicks off early in the month and pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the season. RTD have included for the first time a Two's Up hip-hop stage hosting some of the countries hottest hip-hop artists and DJs, making this year's Daisies probably one of the biggest we've ever seen. The second last month of the year has some amazing events in store. One particularly exciting upcoming event is the Future Frequency Day Festival. Kicking off at 10:30 am, this event is the only place you'd need to be on the 26th at a container yard in Cape Town. With headliners Agents of Time (Ellum) and Third Son (Suara), this is one unique experience you don't want to miss. November boasts some killer outdoor events for the month:

The silly season kicks off with two epic festivals; Rage Fest in Plett and the five-day Vortex Open Source. December will get progressively more intense as more people go on holiday and leave their worries in 2016, leading to the annual Rezonance and Kinky Summer New Year's Eve blowouts. 2017 kicks off with the annual Origin Festival in Cape Town from the 27th - 29th of January with Ultra Music Festival following on the 24th and 25th of February in Cape Town and Johannesburg respectively. CTEMF 2017 should be on the cards for February/March before Cape Town International Jazz Festival ends the 3rd month of 2017. Outland FestivalSplashy Fen, Vortex and Afrikaburn will end the best parts of the Summer season.
