The South African techno community continues its fine form with another world-class booking, this time, it's the much anticipated German techno powerhouse Marc Romboy. As the founder of Systematic Recordings, he has brought some of the finest deep house and techno releases to the world, moulding a distinct sound into the ears and hearts of dance music fans across the globe.
Having released countless productions and remixes over the years, he exploded back into the limelight this year with Adriatique's remix of 'Atlas', produced in collaboration with another titan in the techno scene, Stephan Bodzin, back in 2006. His distinct production style has the ability to please both deep house and techno fans alike. Blending chord stabs and atmospherics with dancefloor-ready drum patterns and massive basslines, he brings the core to the forefront of any track he touches and delivers it with his signature German finesse.
His first label Le Petite Prince in 1993 kicked off his domination of the sound and slowly gravitated him towards the well-known stable that Systematic is today. As a DJ he has played Berghain, Watergate, Rex and Fabric to name a few and next week he will add Oppikoppi Festival and ERA to his illustrious resume.
After four albums and a career that spans over twenty years, Marc Romboy comes to South Africa for a two-stop tour at Oppikoppi Festival in Limpopo on August 5th and Era in Cape Town with Helmut J, B_Type, Miss CJ, Robin Would, Bruno Morphet for Hello Techno on the 6th. Tickets for the Cape Town gig are available at Quicket. Visit the Oppikoppi Facebook page for Oppikoppi Festival ticket details.
