South African entertainment company Steyn Entertainment has bought two of the country’s biggest and most loved musical festivals in one fell swoop. Cape Town’s Rocking The Daisies and Johannesburg’s In The City have been amongst the hottest music festival properties for many years, and Steyn believes they can “enhance the offering of SA’s top two music and lifestyle events to invite the world to our beautiful country,” - as George Avakian stated in the press release. “Our vision is to take them to the next level in terms of production value, line-up, and technical design, cementing their place on the international festival circuit.” He added.
Steyn Entertainment plans to work in close collaboration with the festival founders Brian Little and Craig Bright to make sure the brand retains its essence, but no doubt are looking to step things up in the coming years to place the festival amongst the best in the world. Little commented saying: “This is the perfect collaboration, we’re all after a common goal, which is to create globally aspirational events. With Steyn’s resources and our know-how, we’ve found the winning formula, and as these are the only two events that Craig and I will be focusing our attention on, our fans can expect great things. We’re really looking forward to seeing our joint vision through to fruition.”
Rocking The Daisies returns to its home in Darling on the weekend of the 6th to the 9th October and well see its 20 000 strong attendees frolicking in the farmlands, as they have for the past nine years. Held at the Emmarentia Dam, In The City happens on the Sunday of the Same weekend and will host 10 000 patrons with a stellar line-up of international and local acts.
