2016 has got off to one helluva start and has produced some top notch music and music videos already. As summer begins its descent and the cold season rears its ugly face; we take a look at some of the hottest videos that have kicked off the year in South Africa.

Branko - Let Me Go Ft Nonku Phiri & Mr. Carmack

Lisbon-based producer Branko set off on a journey to find new sounds around the world last year saying that "everything has already been discovered." This project birthed an incredible video for the track "Let Me Go" featuring Nonku Phiri and Mr. Carmack, shot in the heart of Johannesburg.

Khuli Chana x Aewon Wolf x Gemini MAjor - Walking & Dabbing

Aewon Wolf and his crew have been on fire since the summer season and have released three music videos in the last four months. Teaming up with Khuli Chana and Gemini Major, 'Walking & Dabbing' captures some awesome overhead shots of the trio and their clique. Having co-directed the vid himself, Aewon is proving he's not just a one trick pony.

Anatii, Cassper Nyovest - Jump ft. Nasty C

Anatii and Cassper Nyovest stuck gold with this intriguing video for 'Jump', taking the usual hip-hop visual style of rappers in their houses with females dancing around them and flipping it into a mind-fuck of morphing bodies and degraded film. This ingenious use of various degradation methods comes with an epilepsy warning, and might make you think there's something wrong with your video player.

Maramza & Moonchild - Inkwenkwezi

Maramza and Moonchild's 'Cut The Cake' became a major highlight in the careers of both artists. Their latest offering 'Inkwenkwezi' is a moody, tripped-out piece of experimental trip-hop and is captured beautifully with this video produced by Matt Right of the naas Collective.

A-Reece - Couldn't Ft Emtee

For a young rapper - just 18 years old - A-Reece has delivered a music video that stands out amongst most of the typical hip-hop videos. This offering shifts away from the blinged up, excessively lavish lifestyles and is an entertaining story based video with angry mobsters, kidnappings, and revenge.
