Ibiza was a very different place in the '80s and '90s as these amazing archive images show.

The White Isle comes with a very special history, especially with regards to the evolution of electronic music, and the contribution the island made to the wider discourse of music and culture during that early period. Tracing this heritage has been the pursuit of many over the years, but images always seem to explain the ethos of the island best.

The following images are taken from magazines like Ibiza Magazine and books like Paula’s Ibiza, which successfully chronicled the people, fashion and culture of the island during the '80s and '90s.

Within the collection are images by British photographer Derek Ridgers, who took up residency at club Ku (now Privilege) in the '80s, and the work of graphic artists Yves Uro and Armin Heinemann. Copies of these books and magazines can be purchased from IDEA Books. We urge you to do so.
