With our stunning harbour and mild weather, it’s no surprise that Sydney loves a boat party. But these days, thanks to an ever-increasing police crack-down on fun, opportunities to get out on the harbour and listen to great DJs have all but disappeared.
Sydney promoters pushing electronic music events of the nautical variety have basically been banished from the waters and harbour cruise operators and boat owners have been warned off doing business with them.
Except, that is, for one promoter. Have You Heard have been organizing The Yacht Social Club since March last year to great success. The law regulates boat parties with over 300 people, but by creating a raft of many ‘small’ boats, the social club is heralded for their creative solution to some unfortunate legislation.
Due to an impeccable reputation for safe and fabulous events, The Yacht Social Club prevails as the last remaining boat party allowed to hit the harbour’s waters.
The social club has two events lined up to close out the summer. March 5 will feature Bondi House DJs, who built their name through explosive house parties before launching onto the international festival scene, while the final Yacht Social club on March 12 will be helmed by Ibiza resident Nicc Johnson and UK born Sydney resident Vonaudio.
The event is strictly BYO, so guests are encouraged to plan ahead with their crew and pack all their essentials for the day. Each yacht is equipped with a BBQ for you to take advantage of for grilling veggie skewers, seafood, and sausage sizzles throughout the day.
Complete with floaties, live Djs, and plenty of sunshine The Yacht Social Club is the last remaining boat party allowed in Sydney, so gather your crew, book a yacht and get ready for the obligatory ‘I’m on a boat’ Instagram posts.
