Sydney clubbing institution Chinese Laundry is renowned for their trademark garden parties, which have seen some of dance music’s biggest names take the stage for intimate but raucous daytime parties in the venue’s famous garden bar.

This summer, the crew from Laundry has pulled out all their usual stops and will be presenting four garden parties with distinctly different flavours and, we have to say, we’re looking forward to all of them immensely.

Andy C, Route 94, Huxley and Kölsch will all be making appearances on the garden stage over the coming months and this weekend the first garden party of the summer is kicking off with techno maverick Scuba on board to bring the vibes.

Scuba and his Hotflush imprint have been shaping the direction of the electronic scene’s bass-heavy landscape since 2003, deliberately pushing against dance music currents and changing course when it suits him.

2014 heralded a fresh musical approach for Scuba. “I felt that I’d taken that approach of being intentionally contrary to its fullest conclusion and that it was time to do something different,” he revealed.

His path since then has embodied this revalation: a darker, more introspective musical direction melding dancefloor dynamics with brooding atmospheres and spectral vocals.

Scuba will be joined in the Garden by some of Sydney’s finest house and techno DJs; Motorik Vibe Council, Robbie Lowe, U-Khan, Mantra Collective and Persian Rug.

Check out Scuba’s Boiler Room set from a few months ago for a better idea of what to look forward to. This + sunshine + garden vibes. Can’t wait.
